Steve Venezia
Mr. Venezia graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, where he majored in economics. In December 1984, Mr. Venezia graduated from the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation, Mr. Venezia worked as in-house counsel for the Chicago Board of Trade. After he was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona, Mr. Venezia worked for the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office from 1986 to 1988. He then went into private practice with Junker, Doherty & LaMar, P.C., where he represented clients in auto, premises liability, personal injury and construction defect matters. Mr. Venezia has tried over 18 cases to verdict in superior courts throughout Arizona.
In 1994, Mr. Venezia formed the law firm of Doherty & Venezia, P.C., where he continued to practice in the area of personal injury defense. Mr. Venezia then began to emphasize workers’ compensation defense beginning in 1995. Mr. Venezia is certified by the State of Arizona as an expert in workers’ compensation law.
In January 2012, Mr. Venezia joined the law firm of Jardine Baker Hickman Houston, where he continues to practice in the area of workers’ compensation defense as well as representing defendants and insurance carriers in personal injury, commercial matters, as well as coverage issues. Mr. Venezia was recently successful at the Arizona Court of Appeals concerning the interpretation and application of Arizona’s uninsured motorist statute in Bither v. Country Mut. Ins. Co., No. 1-CA-CV10-0115.
Mr. Venezia has also represented defendants as a volunteer lawyer through the Arizona State Bar Volunteer Lawyer’s Program. Mr. Venezia has also acted as an arbitrator in matters before the National Association of Security Dealers (NASD). He has also acted as a Superior Court arbitrator in several matters.
